Foreigners wishing to work or reside in Russia will need to prove their command of the Russian language, Russian history and fundamentals of Russian law.

From 1 January 2015 most of the foreigners wishing to work or reside in Russia will need to prove their command of the Russian language, Russian history and fundamentals of Russian law. Foreigners subject to a visa regime will be given more time to prove they meet new requirements. Highly qualified specialists and their relatives will not need to pass the Russian Language and Civilization test.
